The History of South Skye
Sleat, like the rest of Skye, has a chequered past: bloodshed, feuding clans, times of prosperity, and times of poverty, but there have been people here from earliest times (see the article on recent archaeological finds). Much of Sleat’s history can be seen in the Clan Donald Museum of the Isles, and many of the myths and legends surrounding this place also make fascinating reading. If you are coming to Sleat to find your ancestors, or simply to enjoy soaking up the atmosphere that such a diverse history brings to an area, there is much to discover.
